  • Maili Sita, opposite Kiamaina Primary School
  • SHA accepted for eligible services

Surgery without the long trip

Today, an operation often means travelling to town, waiting, and arranging for family to visit far from home. A theatre at Maili Sita means the same team that knows you before an operation cares for you after it, a short ride from home.

What we offer

  • Planned (elective) surgical procedures
  • Urgent operations, with referral when a higher level of care is needed
  • Safe anaesthesia with monitoring before, during and after surgery
  • Pre-operative assessment and tests on site
  • Recovery on our inpatient ward, with follow-up reviews

What to expect

  1. 1

    Consultation

A clinician assesses you and explains whether surgery is the right option.
  2. 2

  3. 3

    Your operation

Surgery in the theatre, with anaesthesia and close monitoring.
  4. 4

Care on the ward, then a review date and home-care advice.

How to prepare

  • Bring any referral letter, previous test results and a list of the medicines you take.
  • Follow the fasting instructions you are given before surgery: usually no food for several hours.
  • Tell us about allergies, bleeding problems, pregnancy or past reactions to anaesthesia.
  • Arrange for an adult to accompany you home after the procedure.
